IIQE Paper 1, Principles and Practice of Insurance, is the paper every Hong Kong insurance intermediary sits: it covers risk and insurance, the legal principles and principles of insurance, how insurers work, the structure of the industry and its regulation, and the ethics and conduct expected of intermediaries.
IIQE Paper 1 is 75 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours, and the pass mark is 70% (PEAK IIQE Handbook §2.2.1 (1 Sep 2026); checked 31 Oct 2026).
