A scheme's financial year ends on 31 December. Apart from the fund fact sheet sent with the annual benefit statement, by when must the second fund fact sheet for that financial year be provided?
Answer: 31 August. At least two fund fact sheets are issued each financial year: one with the annual benefit statement, the other within two months after the reporting date, which is six months after the financial year end. Year end 31 December → reporting date 30 June → by 31 August. Why not the others:• 31 March: this is three months after the year end, the benefit statement deadline.• 30 June: 30 June is the reporting date; the sheet is due within two months after it.• 31 December: a full year later is well past the deadline.Watch out: Candidates stop at the reporting date.Rule: Year end + 6 months = reporting date; + 2 months = second fact sheet.Source: MPF Study Notes, Tenth Edition (June 2026), 5.10(c)
Candidates stop at the reporting date.
